What is Patient Satisfaction? Patient Satisfaction measures our patients' opinion of the quality of customer service we provide to patients and family members/visitors during the hospital stay. There are many important factors that contribute to the patient experience. Our patient satisfaction survey is designed to measure these factors in detail so we can ensure that all of your needs are being met during your stay with us. We measure several areas of our patients' experience:
- Your Overall Assessment of your experience with us
- The quality of communication with your Nurses
- Your experience during your Tests and Treatments
- The quality of communication with your Physicians
- The comfort and cleanliness of your Room
- The Discharge Process
- The extent to which your Personal Needs were met
- The overall experience in our Patient Care Areas such as Labor and Delivery

What is HCAHPS? HCAHPS is an acronym for "Hospital Consumer Assessments of Healthcare Providers and Systems" survey. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have developed this survey instrument to be used to collect information on hospital patients' perspective of the care they received while in the hospital. This survey is sent in addition to the patient satisfaction survey Press Ganey sends to many of our patients who receive our service.
HCAHPS survey results are made public by CMS on their website. However, due to their reporting timelines, the data can be as old as 18 months prior. We strongly believe that our patients want and deserve current information instead of old news. Therefore, Emanuel has opted to post its most current HCAHPS scores below-which is the most current survey results that we have available to us.

What is Press Ganey? Emanuel has contracted with Press Ganey for more than a decade to measure and improve our patients' satisfaction. Press Ganey is a consulting company that provides surveying and reporting services to over 7,000 healthcare facilities nationwide. This data is used throughout our facilities as the basis for process improvement and staff development to ensure that we are providing our patients with the best healthcare experience possible. The results of Press Ganey surveys are only made public when/if the hospital chooses to do so.
